What is Talk Town?

Talk Town Festival is a debate festival focusing on equality, gender and feminism. The festival is co-created by contributors, similarly to the Folkemøde festival on Bornholm, where organizations, associations, companies, grassroots movements and individuals from Denmark and beyond contribute with talks, workshops, cultural events, debates, performances and more through our Open Call model.

What is this year’s theme?

This year’s theme is “Rights Under Pressure” and focuses on equality, gender and feminism through a wide range of informative, creative and community-building events in both Danish and English.

When is the Talk Town festival held?

Talk Town is held annually. This year marks the festival’s 10th anniversary, and it will take place on the 24th and 25th September 2026.

Where is Talk Town held?

Talk Town is held at the Youth Democracy House (Ungdommens Demokratihus) in the Meat Packing District (Kødbyen) in Vesterbro. The address is Slagtehusgade 10a, 1715 Copenhagen.

Is it free for guests to attend Talk Town?

Yes it is free to attend Talk Town as a guest, as we place great importance on ensuring access for everyone, regardless of financial means.

Do I need to register to attend the Talk Town festival?

Yes, you must register via our website. Attendance at the festival is free, and everyone is welcome.

How do I register as a contributor/speaker?

Individuals as well as large and small organizations, etc., can apply to become contributors/speakers at Talk Town. Applications are made via our Open Call platform prior to the festival. Keep an eye on Talk Town’s Instagram (@talktown) and website (www.talktown.dk) to stay updated. 

What are Talk Town’s guidelines?

Talk Town is a debate festival where we learn and listen together. Talk Town does not tolerate sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, fatphobia, ableism or any other form of discrimination. We expect all festival guests, contributors and staff members to listen to one another, respect each other’s boundaries and make space for people who do not share the same privileges. 

If you experience or witness anything uncomfortable or inappropriate during the festival, please speak to the information desk, and we will do our best to address the situation.
